About
Welcome to Experiment Coffee and Pastry, an enchanting café that beckons you from the heart of Tempe, Arizona, at 1135 W Geneva Dr. This charming establishment is a true hidden gem, celebrated for its exceptional coffee and pastries that don’t just please the palate, but also spark delight with every bite.
As a devoted food reviewer, I find that one of the highlights of Experiment is their expertly crafted breakfast offerings. Take, for instance, the Breakfast Sandwich, featuring crispy bacon, a perfectly cooked egg, and 3-pepper colby cheese, all nestled within a signature JRB English muffin—pure bliss for just US$7.00. If you lean toward something lighter, their Avocado Toast showcases fresh artisan bread topped with ripe avocado, making for a refreshing option at the same price. And for a nostalgic twist, indulge in the Peanut Butter and Jelly on a toasted English muffin for only US$4.50.
The allure of Experiment transcends breakfast. Their decorated Berry Bundt Cake promises a rich experience, combining blueberries and cranberries with a decadent cream cheese frosting, a steal at US$8.00. If pastries are your passion, don’t miss out on their Kouign Amann, priced at US$5.25—a buttery, flaky delight sure to leave you craving more.
But then there are the cookies—the true stars of the dessert menu. The Pecan Chocolate Chip Cookie is a must-try, merging the nutty crunch of pecans with luscious chocolate chips for only US$3.50. For those with an adventurous spirit, the Best Cookie, loaded with multiple goodies, is equally tempting at the same price point.
Diving deeper into the experience, reviews from delighted customers echo the sentiment that the pastries truly steal the show. Ameerah S.'s recount of their visit, featuring the Pistachio Caramel Latte and a delightful blackberry mango cheese Danish, perfectly captures the essence of this culinary paradise. The lattes boast quality coffee with unique flavorings that are hard to replicate.
One cannot overlook the sense of community and warmth that envelops Experiment Coffee and Pastry. Patrons rave about the engaging staff, ready to assist with a smile, even to those of us who may need a bit longer to decide. The café itself, though compact, radiates a cozy atmosphere perfect for grabbing a quick bite or leisurely indulging in delightful pastries and coffee.
In conclusion, whether you find yourself longing for a morning pick-me-up or an exquisite treat to sweeten your day, Experiment Coffee and Pastry is the place to be. With its artful blends of coffee and an array of pastries made with love, this little slice of heaven promises a delightful experience that you won't soon forget. Don’t just take my word for it—come and try it for yourself!
“ Avo toast had great bread but I forgot I was in the SW and the red pepper flakes were a bit too much! Great Matcha ”
“ Best pastries ever! And lemonade - per Alejandro, my 7 year old nephew. We ordered an Elote croissant & the layers in the pastry were absolutely superb! You could smell the butter in both the cookie & croissant, a rareity here in the Valley. Perfect balance of sweetness in the chocolate chip cookie which is something I always look for. We cannot wait to go back. My nephew is looking forward to his “next day off” so he can also join. Thank you! ”
“ Oh my goodness. This place is such a hidden gem. Really good coffee but their pastries and other goodies totally steal the show. It's a small little place that serves amazing croissants, cookies, muffins, cinnamon rolls, etc. They are made from scratch and I promise you'll have a hard time picking which to order every single time you visit this little slice of Heaven. Try the Black Forest ham and Gruyere cheese croissant at lunch time and the espresso croissant any time. Other cool options are the goat cheese and fig danish or maybe a lemon meringue croissant. The people who work here are super helpful. Even to some old dude like me who asks a bunch of questions and takes a minute to order. Just go. Give them a try. You'll be glad you did. ”
“ After finding Experiment online, and reading the reviews, I have been longing to try this place out. And it lived up to the hype! We got the Pistachio Caramel Latte, Butterscotch Oak Barrel Latte, the espresso croissant and the blackberry mango cheese Danish (pictured!) Everything was absolutely delicious!! Just as other reviews have mentioned, the pastries here are absolutely wonderful and as for the lattes, you can taste the coffee and recognize its quality while also having delicious and unique signature flavorings. The space inside the cafe is very limited, as others have mentioned, so this is more of a grab and go place. It's important to note you're paying for what you purchase (the total was about 25 for a regular coffee, large coffee, and two pastries). But with that being said, the prices are comparable to other cafes - just much better quality! Nowadays I justify when I get coffee out by saying I'm also paying for the 2-3 hours I'm spending working/studying in the space, as well. However, these pastries and coffee, are worth it all on their own. Highly recommend! ”
“ OK YUM??? We got QUITE a few items from here and we got it to go. This is a super small shop with a tiny outdoor seating area and two small stools to sit on to wait. It’s such a vibe! Like a pocket sized pastry shop. They have a single item (changes daily) menu for lunch and offer a breakfast sandwich or avo toast for breakfast. And WOW they have such a great variety of pastries. We got the fig and goat cheese danish (my fave of the haul), a strawberry cream pastry (extremely good, basically tied for first but I was craving goat cheese), the breakfast sandwich (extremely fresh and delicious! The English muffin was SO good), a lemon meringue croissant (delicious lemon filling, I’m not a meringue person but my roomie liked it) a coffee (scrumptious), and a chocolate chip cookie (honestly nothing will beat my mom’s so idk why we try). Overall, super good experience and so close to our place! Some things run on the extra sweet side (meringue and chocolate chip cookie) but pastries are best with a strong coffee. We will be back for sure :) ”
“ Got a churro latte, elote croissant, and tomato basil pastry and it was amazing! The barista was super sweet and it’s a cute tiny little joint. 10/10!!!!!!!!!!! ”
“ Every review that called this place a hidden gem is spot on. It's a VERY small space, so I'm glad I was there when it wasn't super busy. I had an iced mocha, which was really good. Also, I got a cinnamon roll and a chocolate croissant. Both were so delicious. I highly recommend checking this place out. ”
“ They simply do things better. Delicious coffee and phenomenal pastries! Highly recommend. The busy owner even took a few minutes to chat with us, and I loved everything I heard... especially about the second shop under construction in Scottsdale. I can't wait! #OldTownScottsdale ”
